The Challenges We Want to Overcome with Design Sprint

The teams at Indosat M2 are facing the challenge of delivering products/services fast and make them relevant to the users. Design sprint was expected to bring speed to the delivery of products/services and to help the teams to be more user-centric.

The Participants

Everyone that’s involved in product and service development: sales, product development, marketing communication, content, corporate product, network planning, IT, and customer service.

The Design Sprint Process

We chose internet experience as a challenge to improve, since Indosat M2 is mostly about internet.

One of the teams’s challenge: a fun and creative personal internet experience.

The teams continued with mapping the current experience, identifying opportunities and pain points through 360 lightning talk, then exploring as many ideas as they could in Diverge Stage.

Mapping the existing experience.
Some of the solution sketches.

Each of the teams then built a prototype in 4 hours and validated it with the users. They’re customers, not internal staffs.

What Did They Learn from the Workshop?

The speed of product development, from ideation to building a prototype, then validate it with the users, was the key takeaway that they learned.

“In able to survive in a business that is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, we are transforming IM2 to become more agile. Google design sprint is a good tool for us to increase our agility on creating product/service much faster, to be more relevant with our customer needs. Borrys is a good Google Design Sprint facilitator, he’s able to make our team do ideation to prototyping within 3 days. That was the fastest product development that we’ve ever had!”

I Made Aji Wicaksana, Head of Customer Experience FTTH at PT. Indosat, Tbk — member of Ooredoo Group

“This was an amazing way to do execution especially for a startup company like GIG. Now I do realize what is the key success for my journey in the startup world.”

Vredriek H Silaen, Head of Sales FTTH, PT.Indosat Tbk.
